Question by commanderkraut: morse taper drill press adapter?
i have a drill press with a morse taper spindle, and was going to use it for light milling, but was searching for a way to secure the chuck against side loads. it has no center screw in the spindle, would tapping this for a screw be the easiest way?

You could carry out that modification, but I would not be entirely pleased. Though I am pleased to use a mill as a drill press, I do not like the notion of utilizing a drill press as a mill, considering the stresses for which it is not designed.

mach 3 pocket cycle and circle wizard employed to make a motor/ gearbox adapter plate on a residence modified drill press. Yes it vibrates! and yes the morse taper comes loose and drops the tool into the job! You learn by trial and error.
